Course Description

• Prepares for employment as entry level carpenter or construction worker.
• Prepares students to pursue post-secondary education in multiple construction fields such as construction management, design and mechanical fields.
• Employment opportunities strong with 5% to 8% growth with average salary of $42,000 in Hampton Roads
• One Year Program (students can elect to take Building Construction III their 2nd year).

Students Will:

• Design and build projects
• Learn Construction Industry Standards
• Estimate jobs
• Become certified in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety standards and tool usage
• Obtain hands-on building skills
• Integrate technology in construction
• Learn the importance of safety in the workplace
• Pre-Construction planning and estimating.
