Course Description:

This one year program requires discipline and attention to academic and professional standards to successfully fight live fires, address hazardous-materials (HAZMAT) incidents, and conduct search-and-rescue operations.  Students will also respond to situations caused by simulated terrorism, accidents, and natural disasters by managing resources such as medivac helicopters, emergency medical personnel, technical rescue teams, and community-based organizations.  Students will become familiar with the procedures, equipment, and technologies used by fire departments.  This course challenges students academically, mentally, and physically to meet the standards of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) leading to an opportunity to obtain a Firefighter I & II certifications.

• Ladders, water supply, sprinkler systems, and ventilation

• Must be 16 years of age at the beginning of the course
• Completed 10th grade English with a grade of “C” or better
• Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the English language at the 10th grade level
• Must have a physical exam completed by August 1st on the NHREC Physical Form  
• Must attend after school and weekend mandatory sessions 
• Must complete BLS for Healthcare Providers during the 1st weekend of school
